Crab Feed - Third Saturday in January
For over thirty years the Upcountry Rotary Club has hosted an annual Crab Feed at our Lady of the Pines Church in Pioneer. It is not an easy event to organize, with ongoing issues related to the use of Church property for fundraising and insurance requirements, not to mention the possibility of heavy snows, which has caused last-minute cancellation. Problems with crab seasons have also led to serving hundreds of folks at the last minute steaks instead of crab!

Fortunately, upcountry residents know that they need to be flexible. Plus, most people come for the clam chowder anyway, which has a secret recipe that requires five hours to cook. This annual tradition requires a lot of planning, preparation, and hard work by many of our members. It is a major part of our club presence, representing the shared tradition and values of our community. We are grateful to Our Lady of the Pines for working with us each year to ensure its success.
Car Show
Coming Again In 2021!
Our small upcountry club has had great success over the past few years with an annual Car Show that is free to the public.
Our local Mace Meadows Golf Course provides the space on their driving range to park up to 100 custom cars. The golf course earns the proceeds from providing food and beverages. Our Club donates money to our local Boy Scout Troop to buy popcorn and Root Beer floats so that they can also earn money for their troop. We apply the car entry fees and raffle earnings to our annual scholarship program, as well as RYLA and REGL programs. There are not that many free community/family events in our rural area, so this FUNraiser has become very popular.
