Annual January Crab Feed

For over thirty five years the Upcountry Rotary Club has hosted an annual Crab Feed at our Lady of the Pines Church in Pioneer. USUALLY, it is the third Saturday in January.
Fortunately, upcountry residents are flexible. Plus, most people come for the clam chowder anyway, which has a secret recipe that requires at least four hours to cook. This annual tradition requires a lot of planning, preparation, and hard work by many of our members. It is a major activity of our club experience, representing the shared tradition and values of our community.
It is not an easy event to organize, with ongoing issues related to the use of Church property for fundraising and insurance requirements, not to mention the annual possibility of heavy snows, which has caused last-minute cancellation in the past. Problems with crab seasons have also led to serving steaks to hundreds of folks at the last minute instead of crab!

We are grateful to Our Lady of the Pines for working with us each year to ensure its success; we are grateful to all our community and businesses for their generosity with auction items; and we thank all our Crab Feed Attendees for their generosity, merriment, and good cheer!

Car Show/Rib Cookoff

2022 is IN THE BOOKS!
Our small upcountry club has had great success over the past few years with an annual Car Show. Then in 2021, we held an Upcountry Ribs Cookoff which was a lip-smacking success. We decided to combine those those events into one spectacular, fun Upcountry FUNraiser beginning in September, 2022!
Our local Mace Meadows Golf Course provides the space on their driving range to park up to 100 custom cars, plus booths for vendors and for the Rib Cookoff Contestants. The golf course earns the proceeds from providing food and alcoholic beverages. Our Club contributes support to our local Boy Scout Troop 888 and other youth groups so that they can earn money for their organization. We apply the car entry fees and raffle/auction earnings to our annual scholarship program, as well as our leadership camps/ (RYLA and REGL) programs. We offer space to local crafters to sell their wares, too.
Those with vehicles to show off or skills at the barbeque will want to keep watching for the entry form. Those who love cool cars, those with an appetite for ribs, and those who can't resist exciting and interesting auction items ... keep the 3rd Saturday in September open for our ANNUAL Car Show and Rib CookOff!
It's a FUN Fundaiser benefitting our Upcountry youth.
